Number One Hundred

"I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream
Lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart
They were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way
Into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you"

Number Ninety-nine

Rosa Parks died today. I am inserting a quote in her memory.

"People always say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that wasn't true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was 42.
No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in."

These lyrics from "Hark! The Harold Angels Sing" really moved me today:

"Christ, by highest heav'n adored
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of the favored one.
Veil'd in flesh, the Godhead see;
Hail, th'incarnate Deity
Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!"

Number Ninety-eight

"Many times
I’ve tried to tell you
Many times I’ve cried alone
Always I’m surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone
Don’t want to leave you
I’ve invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind

We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We’ve both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together"

Number Ninety-seven

Have you ever heard a song in which you understood almost none of the lyrics? My most recent puzzlement has been Greenday's "Holiday." So, here are most of the lyrics, to ease my mind, and yours if you've been troubled lately, too:

"Hear the sound of the falling rain
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!)
The shame, the ones who die without a name

Here the dogs howling out of key
To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!)
And bleed, the company lost the war today

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

Hear the drum pounding out of time
Another protestor has crossed the line (HEY!)
To find, the money's on the other side

Can I get another amen? (Amen!)
There's a rag wrapped around the score of men (Hey!)
A gag, A plastic bag on a monument

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday(Hey!)(Say, Hey!)
"The representative from California has the floor"

Zieg Heil to the president gasman
Bombs away is your punishment
Pulverize the Eiffel towers
Who criticize your government
Bang bang goes the broken glass and
Kill all the fags that don't agree
Trials by fire, setting fire
Is not a way that's meant for me
Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
This is our lives on holiday"

I don't know if I like the lyrics yet, but at least I know them now.

Number Ninety-six

"Open up your eyes
Then you'll realize
Here I stand with my
Everlasting love

Need you by my side
Come and be my pride
You'll never be denied
Everlasting love

From the very start
Open up your heart
Feel the love you've got
Everlasting love"

(Robert Knight, "Everlasting Love")
